Dryer Won't Heat, Element gets hot
Ok 2 weeks ago the belt broke on my kenmore dryer. Ordered a new belt put it together and realized the door switch broke and fell apart. I put a new switch in and now I very little heat in the drum, but the element is glowing bright red. I can feel heat in the top of the drum, but the vents in the back off the drum are cool to the touch and so is the exhaust.

First thing I would do is to open the unit up and clean all the lint out of the unit. Remove the blower housing and clean it, clean the 2 vent openings inside the unit and check the blower motor, is it working? Any blockage of lint will keep unit form heating if there is blockage. Also if the blower motor isn't working, you have no way of moving the heat. After you replaced the belt you checked to make sure the drum is turning didn't you? The belt is routed around the tension pulley correctly, right?

Yes the drum turns, and the element is hot. I will check the blower motor.

Have you cleaned the lint out of the unit. If you have restricions inside unit, it will not heat inside the drum
