In residential, there is no maximum outlets on a general purpose lighting circuit, which can include ceiling lights and wall receptacles, in bedrooms, living rooms, etc. In commercial the max is 10 on a 15 amp circuit, and 13 on a 20 amp circuit.

This is widely used as a guideline in residential.

If the load is known, such as a bank of lights in a family room, then the amount of outlets is based on the total load of the light fixtures.

    Can you provide more detail?
