Hi, I am 20 years old and a junior in college. I don't have a car at the moment. My mother is more controlling than my father. My father is the laid back kind of person, he just chills. I have to complete 8 hours of community service for my social work class before oct.18 and I am in Montgomery for college. I am from Birmingham, so anyway, my mom takes it upon herself to find volunteer service for me in birmingham. My boyfriend lives in Montgomery also. He as agreed to take me back and forth to Jackson Hospital, which is around the corner if I would work around his schedule whenever he is free. My parents don't agree to it because they feel that he is not my husband and he is not obligated to take me. My mom finds me some volunteer service in Birmingham, but she gives me some choices. She says I can either come home this weekend or next weekend to do them. The next day I say I would like to do it next weekend, she tells me no, I am doing it this weekend,and that they were coming down to get on Friday. She gave me a option to chose from but she takes it back. Should I talk to her or just let it go and let her continue to control everything that I do.

You are 20 years old! You're out living on your own, your mom should NOT be controlling you at all

You are 20 years old, not 17. Legally, you're an adult so its time to speak up.

Sit her down and tell her you appreciate her help, but you'd like to handle this on your own. If it helps, talk to dad first and get him to back you up.

Sweetie,why not use public transportation and choose your own hours? That is an adult thing to do

If the hospital is as close as you said, why wait for anyone to give you a ride? I still think you could have found your own way. That would have been power-ful
