    Letters from Sheriff's Dept
I'm getting letters from the Greenville SC Sheriff's dept. The letter states if I do not come to the Sheriff's office & pick up my letter of exemptions & agree to pay a certain amout on a credit card debt my property was be seised. The credit card debt is worth more than my property so I'm not showing up nothing. I do not work so they can't garnish my wages.
    Please advise

    Hello s:

The sheriff doesn't collect debts, so I wouldn't show up either.

    Hello ludermae

Sounds like a scare tatic I didn't think a sheriff could collect a debt I thought they showed up at your door with a civil summons that showed a court date and if you didn't show to defend yourself a default judgement would be awarded and then they would go after bank accounts, wages etc.
