Replacing a shower with a Tub
I am looking to replace a stand-up shower with a standard sized bathtub. I have no plumbing expierince whatso ever. The bathroom is very small. It already has pipes for the shower hooked up. The are all exposed on the outside of the wall behind the shower so I think working with the pipes will be fairly easy since I won't be removing any walls to initially get to them... I know the drain is in the wrong place for a bathtub and due to the small size of the space I know I will probably have to make a new hole for the drain... I am just so clueless. My dad will hopefully be helping with this project... I want to try to aviod the use of an actual plumber for most of the project.due to financial reasons.. I just need some serious help

Is this on a cement slab or a wood floor? The first thing will be to remove the old shower. You will then have to move the shower trap and raiser to the new location. If on a slab this means jackhammering up the cement and creating a "tub dap out hole" 12 inches square. The trap and raiser will rough in at 15 1/2" off the wall and 1 1/2" off the front plate to the center of the raiser. Once all that's done you may connect the tubs drainage and water.
More questions I'm as close as a click. Good luck on your project. Tom

Wood floor underneath. The house is very old. But the shower is not a normal shower it is like completely flexible plastic I think it is meant for Rv's or something it is very cheap looking... what is the raisers and things your talking about??

A trap is that curvy thingie under the slab and a raiser is the pipe that comes out of it and hooks to the drain. Cheers, Tom
