My daughter just signed a 6 month lease last week. The owner is trying to sell her current residence so that she move back to the rental property. Last night the owner called and said she may have a buyer for her house and she does not want my daughter to move in. Can she legally break the lease even though it has been signed, but she has not moved in?

No, she can't. Tell your daughter to listen to any offer the landlord is willing to make her. I wouldn't accept anything less than two months rent.
