    Washer sometimes won't start spinning
Whirlpool LSL9244EQ0 washer which is a direct drive. Problem is Everything works right except for sometimes the spin cycle doesn't engage, I have to open the led for 5 seconds and when I close it then it starts spinning. Seems that the lid switch activates the clutch only when the motor stops and starts again. Took everything apart to check the coupler and the clutch and found no problems with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Sounds lke you need to check the balance switch

Have you tried rearranging the clothes and balancing it properly throughout the tub.
If the clothes are heavy and to one side, this could prevent the spinning.

This is true, unbalanced loads will trip the imbalance switch and by raising the lid it will reset the imbalance switch

    Thanks for the info...

Any way to bypass the imbalance switch? Or is it a bad idea? Even running the tub empty results in having the same problem!

Any ideas on how to solve the problem any other way. Also where is the imbalance switch located?

    Thanks again

Mine does the same thing. After the water drains it should start spinning but it doesn't. I lift the lid, hear a click, then close the lid and it spins, but it only does it on the one part of the spin cycle. It started about 2 years ago after the washer was 10 years old.

    Ray,
Is the washer on stable ground or is it lopsided?

The washer is on the flat concrete floor in my garage. Checked it with a level too. Seems to be the tub that is out of balance because I can see it wobble even when running it empty...

    Thanks
