If I want to have a bathroom sink that drains, I have to have a plumber out once a month to clear the drain! He can't ever seem to find what's stuck inside so apparently whatever is causing the clog is getting pushed through when he snakes the drain out. Any ideas on what could be causing my problems so frequently & how to prevent this condition? Thanks!!

How old is the home? How does the plumber unclog the drain? What does he say is clogging it? Does he use a plunger or does he disassemble the drain? Is anyone using any chemicals in the drain? How much water do you use? Some skimp on water and have more drain problems.

The home is 20 years old. The plumber uses a pipe snake. So far I haven't seen him disassemble anything. The only chemical going down the drain is shaving cream when my husband shaves. We do try to not use a lot of water because even when the drain is "clear" it drains slow.

You can get an electric drain opener from home depot for 150 bucks. It is a box, orange, has a plastic hose with a grip at the end that feeds or withdraws the small 25 feet of cable. It will go down if you remove the lavatory plunger. Make it go down all the length of the cable, slowly.
