    COMPAQ System for Probation Transfers
My son is in the process of trying to get his probation (Felony DWI) transferred from Minnesota to Arkansas. He has gone through all of the steps; Requesting the transfer from his current PO; completing the paperwork and paying the transfer fee; acceptance from the new location. He even went back to the sentencing Judge and provided valid reasons for the transfer and the Judge approved and ordered the transfer. The Minnesota PO office keeps telling us that the problem is with the "COMPAQ" system. My son has family, a home and means of support (physical, emotional and financial) in Arkansas. He has no home or job in Minnesota and is living out of boxes. Can you help us understand the "COMPAQ" system and what might be done to speed up the process?

Compaq is a trademark for a brand of computers. Are you sure they aren't talking about a computer in their offices?

    Hello:

She's just giving you bureaucratic speak for NOT MY JOB. However, she's lying, of course. Hard to believe, isn't it??

The Interstate Compact for Community Supervision of Offenders, shortened to "Compact" is nothing more than an agreement between the states that provides a legal and procedural process for the transfer of supervision of offenders between states. The Compact is intended to promote better safety to the public by establishing a process for interstate supervision of offenders.

I would ask her exactly WHERE the problem within the compact is. If she doesn't know, I would ask her supervisor. And, then hers if she doesn't know or won't help. If you squeak loudly enough, maybe your wheel will be greased.
