A lot also has to do with your own personal cycle history, i.e. how late are you and how regular does your cycle tend to be? Everyone is different and even the same person generally experiences variations in their cycle from time to time. For example, if you are a week late, is that somewhat normal for you or are you never that late? For the most part, once you are 8 or more weeks late, you have good cause to suspect pregnancy. Less than that is not as certain and can be due to inevitable variations in the natural cycle.

A blood HCG determination can be run 2 weeks after possible implantation while most urine HCG tests are done 1 month after missed period.
