My grandmother lives at an assistant living facility. A nurse came into the dining room and changed her medicine patch at the table. Is this a violation of the HIPAA privacy regulations?
From my understanding its fairly common practice for nurses to administering medicine to patients during meals in assisted living facilities.
Now if the nurse had announced to everyone in the room what was wrong with grandmother and listed out all of your illnesses and medication then offered everyone a peak at her medical file then yes that would violate HIPAA.
