I am 24 weeks pregnant. I know all the warnings and what not on the pesticides and fertilizers, spray on weed control, and we don't use them in our yard, but I needed some opinions on what I did this weekend. I had a big get together in our backyard. I noticed on Friday, that there were some dandelions popping through the cracks in our patio, and without even thinking grabbed the round-up (well the generic version of this) in a hand held spray bottle, and squirted the little suckers... maybe 8 plants... didnt think one thing about it until today. What are your opinions. Im freaking out now that I tampered with kidney function or something crazy that they are always warning you about.. since I'm normally so careful, and even though my mind says "dont worry", I'm pregnant, so that doesn't really work now does it... any opinions... is it large amounts you need to worry about?

I would think that using it one time would probably not be harmful as long as you did not inhale a large amount of fumes or get the spray on your skin. To put your mind at ease, I would suggest calling your doc and asking for his opinion.

Assuming you used proper protection ( like anyone is suppse to)
You did not get any on your skin and was not breathing it.

Yeah, I got crazy and just called the doc LOL... she thinks I'm fine... my mind is all wired though. Thanks all.

I'm sure uou are fine sweetie. The only time this is a problem is when you are around it all the time. I doubt one moment of forgetfulness is enough to cause permanent damage.

Anyway, at 24 weeks all of the baby's organ systems are functional and the baby is considered viable, except for the lungs, they don't have surfactant until 35 weeks. But this one momentary lapse isn't enough to cause a problem.

I thought it was lng tterm exposure, but you know how your mind gets once it starts going.. lol... I was trying to hold off on asking until my dr. appt. on Friday, but I couldn't... lol.. my poor doctor, I've gone psycho. :D

LOL, I know what it's like being pregnant and worrying about the little things. But I am sure you and baby will be just fine.

Hey, can I come up to your delivery? I will have attended many deliveries by then. LOL, I've already been present at 4 births, not including my own children.

Lol.. sure! Just make sure they keep me doped up :D
