This might be a ridiculous question but there is a rotten egg smell coming from one of our bathrooms. I cannot pinpoint the location except that the smell is overwhelmingly foul. I think it's coming from the sink but it could be coming from the jacuzzi tub. Originally I thought the smell was coming from the jacuzzi tub because the air intake was outside the window. Whenever I run the jacuzzi tub the smell seems to go away. On the other hand, I believe the sewer vent pipe is located on the roof, directly over this bathroom. I'm stabbing in the dark here on how to solve this foul smell problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

More then likely one of the traps are dry and letting sewere gassescome in side the house .Fill the traps on the shower drain, sink drain, hot tub drain, make sure that you have water standing in the bottom of the toilet . If these items are not used very , then you need to pour water in the traps every 2-3weeks. The water evearates and that lets sewerw gas in tto house v:::

Most bad smells in tubs, lavatorys and showers are caused by rotting hair matted with grease from the soap and from rotting food in kitchen disposals Try this for the smell. Tonight before bedtine Take a 1/2 gallon of bleach and pour it down the drain and let set over night. Next morning ,(and this is important) flush out the drain with two large pans of boiling water to loosen the grease and flush the mess out. The bleach will make the hair slippery and began to dissolve it and the hot water will melt the grease and flush the mess away.
Also, pull the lavatory stopper and look down the drain. About 4 inches down you'll see a small rod sticking out. Fish out any hair that's caught there and do the same thing to the lavatory if you detect any odor. This should make your drains smell better. With ball chemicals used in drain cleaning proper ventalation should be observed. Good luck, Tom
