CPU Usage 100% and Windows Shut Down Issues
Please help! I'm studying abroad and need to fix my computer asap. I have a Windows XP SP2 machine and have been having a few problems. The first is that CPU usage has been at 100% for the past few days. Also, for about a week I have not been able to shut down my computer without manually hitting the power button. Windows freezes at the blue screen which says "Windows is shutting down." I have updated and run Norton Antivirus and SpyBot S&D. I have been having CCAPP.exe and OBC.exe hang up on shut down. Here is my HiJackThis log file.

When you ctrl-alt-delete, in the task manager it should show you the CPU usage for each program, is there one using close to 100%?

None of them are using close to 100%. There are two processes which are using about 50% each. One of them is System, and the other is QPService.exe. I believe this process is the QuickPlay media program for my HP laptop. I terminated that process and my cpu usage when back down to about 50%. Is that a normal CPU usage for a laptop?

No it should be using 0 or 1% when idle. 99% should be used by "system idle process". It does sound like something is sitting in the background and nibbling away at you. Hmmm.

According to Windows Task Manager, about 50% of the CPU is System Idle Process and 50% System. There are two processes that usually hang up during shut down though. They're CCApp.exe and OBC.exe. They're both part of Symantec Software. I have Norton Systemworks 2006 and Norton Personal Firewall 2006 installed on my laptop. Have you heard of any problems with these two executables? I tried searching online but I haven't found much.
