:eek: I am thinking about buying a 105 yr old home. During the inspection, the inspector noticed that when you turn on the hot water in the bathtub and then turn on the hot water on the sink (so that both are running at the same time), the hot water in the tub stops flowing. Any ideas?

FACTS: Copper piping / private well on the property / high calcium content in the water.

Hi Ray,
I have the same complaint a few days ago. Scroll down to the thread "WATER PRESSURE by Avi" and read the posts. I'll tell you the same thing I told him. Your hot water pipes don't have the capacity to carry the volume to supply two fixtures, probably due to mineral build up on the pipe walls cutting back the flow. DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY! This could work into a expensive repipe job. If I were thinking about buying this house I would get three estimates on repiping and ask them to, (1) repipe before I buy or (2) get them to drop the purchase price to include a repipe job.
