    Hunter Remote with Hampton Bay fan & light
    I have a Hampton Bay, Courtney Model 42-CN ceiling fan with light kit. It works fine. I am adding a remote control kit, Hunter Universal Model 27185.

    The directions for the remote call for a red wire leading to the light, but the wires from the ceiling are black, blue and white. Assuming blue is for the light, I've connected as follows;

    Black to black
    Blue to red
    White to white

    Turned the breaker on, I can hear a humming noise as though it's getting power, but nothing's working.

    This time, I switched;
    Black to red
    Blue to black
    White to white

    Turned the breaker on, using the remote, the light button turns the fan on and the fan button turns the light on.

    Not sure what else to try? Thanks for your time.

    Your first wiring was correct. Try it again.

    Hi,
    I have the same ceiling fan you have and I can't figure out how to replace the light bulb. Would you be nice to tell me?

    Thanks!

    Sorry I can't help you with you question. I had to hire an electrician to install my fans.

    What type of light does this fan have?

    Thank you for your response. I figured it out. I had to turn the actual light bowl. No screws at all. It's very different from other fans I've had in the past.

    Thanks again for quick answer.
