This isn't homework. I want to write a short story (for a contest) about a child between the age of eight and twelve. The story will be about an adventure the child has.
My sons are adults. What adventures do children have nowadays? I need ideas.

My 5 year old loves to be a pirate. The trampoline is his ship and all the toys beneath are dragons and crocodiles.
Sorry I just noticed you post asked for ages 8 - 12. My youngest 2 are 5 and 13. Sorry about that. LOL
Any ideas are helpful. I love the pirate thing!
(I play a sort-of-similar pretend game with my soulcat, Thomas Jefferson. I get down on all fours and pretend to be an ocean liner and make appropriate ocean-liner noises, while Thomas pretends to be an iceberg bashing my head and trying to "sink" me. I finally collapse on the floor with Thomas jumping onto my back in victory. And yes, I'm weird. Thomas is a little strange too.)
