    Nursing cat with lump
My mother cat is nursing and everything seems quite normal, a little thinness and lots of eating and drinking... but she seems to have a lump on one side of her body. I was wondering if this could possibly be a gland of some sort or if it's high time I took her to the vet to get checked up?
Please let me now what you think.

Hello, my mummy cat has the same sort of thing, her kittens are six weeks old, and I thoght she was acting strangely as you may see I posted a query earlier today, my partner seems to think it's a milk duct or swollen gland but we have decided to take her to the vets just to be sure , if you have any further news then I'd be gratful of some info and I'll be sure to do the same for you. :( kk4 x

On the cat's behalf, if there is swelling, then there must be discomfort. Contact your vet asap. There could be a danger to her not being able to nurse the young kittens as she needs to, or the possibility of her beginning to pass the infection on to the kittens through her milk, and the mother cat detecting this will often times kill the young kittens. I recommend you contact the vet now.

While you are at the vet you could also discuss spaying your cats. Ask the vet about the health benefits of spaying your cat. Spaying can prevent certain types of cancers and infections, that can be very costly or even kill your cat.
