    Hello Carol :)

As for how long it takes to know you are pregnant, usually the first symptom of pregnancy is a missed period. If you miss a period, then start taking pregnancy tests about a week after the missed period, using your first morning urine.

Abdominal pain could be a number of things, ranging from diarrhea to an infection and in some cases something worse. The best way to determine the reason for this pain is to be examined by your doctor. Nobody can examine you over the internet. :)

So, you and your man are trying to have a baby. You do not know that you ARE pregnant; therefore it's not been more than a month since your last period (I'm assuming) and therefore not taken a pregnancy test yet...

The pain in your side is most likely a muscle, or even as simple as an air bubble. The likelihood of it being because you are pregnant is probably not very likely. Physically you wouldn't feel anything for a few months, when the child starts getting larger, and stretching tendons and muscles to accommodate for it's growing size. If you have missed your period, take a test. **Although** some pregnancies are tubular, and if the pain increases or becomes more frequent and unbearable, seek medical attention. Who knows, Maybe it's your appendix!
