OK to run 2 antivirus programmes
Hi all, am I right in thinking that is is OK to use more than one anti virus programe on my PC provided I don't run checks on both at the same time?
I currently have Zone Alarm Suite and Norton Security Scan installed. Thanks

    In all honesty dump norton.
In my professional experience it causes more problems then it solves.

It is never a good idea to run two, or more, active AV's at once as it will cause system stability issues.

If you feel the need for a secondary AV scan try one of the online scanners.
I find Trend Housecall a good backup

I agree, recently my computer froze up on me and I had to call the company that my company uses. What they found was that Norton was basically the problem however a virus had actually attacked Norton and destroyed it, got past and went to work on my Outlook Contacts. The Computer Geek Guy told me the same thing "get rid of Norton" and use NOD32 Anti virus. There is a 30 day free "use" period then $39 per year for the complete package.

After about 5 hours of "fixing" my computer; reinstalling Outlook, etc, my computer is running like a Hotrod. He told me that running NOD32 along with others, for example "CCleaner" will not complicate or slow the computer. By the way the total $$ for the fix and the info; $879.00

Hi Stringer, that is an expensive fix. Thanks for your info. I will give NOD32 a try. The more I hear about Norton of late I am surprised that they still exist as a viable product. Thanks again. Richard.

Never used Norton except for at work where it was replaced by Computer Associates. I use Computer Associates at home and very happy with the program. Before I had the freebies of Zone Alarm and Trend Micro and AVG. Very true that you cannot run two programs at the same time, unless you disable one and use the other. Just safer to have only one - the best you can afford.
