    Flooded car
    Hi, everyone,
My car a suzuki baleno got flooded in knee deep water. She stalled. I cranked it once while it was still inside water. She won't crank. I had it pushed out and towed to nearest service centre. Car must have been inside water for about 15 minutes.
The service guy tells me that the engine needs to be opened and checked. He claims that there must be intensive damage to the engine. He also that the crankshaft is bent ( without having opened the engine ) that is why the car is not cranking. He is asking for expensive repairs.
Can anyone please tell me what is the effect of this kind of flooding. Is there any truth in what the service people are saying. Please respond urgently.
    Thanks
    Capt khanna

Mr. Khanna, I urge you get a second opinion on the damages to your car.

I have to believe your diagnosis. It's called hydrolock. The engine cannot compress a liquid, only air/fuel. Bad things happen when liquid enters the combustion chambers.
BTW, when "it stalled" is when the damage was done.
