Light switches are out of sink
I have 2 light switches in my living room. Both switches should be down when light is off. They have gotten out of sink, so one is down and one is up when the light is off. Several years ago I read an article that explained how to correct this. Unfortunately, I lost the article and can not remember what to do. Would appreciate help.

... out of sink light switch bothering you that much mate? Lol

Give this a squidge: Two way lighting circuits - home electrics and wiring | Diy Fix It
As well as: Howstuffworks "How Three-Way Switches Work"
And: 3-Way Switches and 4-Way Switches

One of the sites has some outdated information, you can't use the white wire to carry power if there is a colored wire avaialable,

    Hope this helps. :)

Simplest solution: first, turn off the breaker for this circuit , then remove the faceplate of one of the switches, then unscrew the switch from the electrical box, and if there is enough slack in the wiring simply rotate the switch 180 degrees and reattach it to the box, then reattach the faceplate.

Slightly more complicated: on one of the switches swap the two switched leads - they may be red or black. Be sure that you can tell the difference between the switched leads and the common.

Switches can only get "out of Sync" if 3 or 4 way switched. If toggle switch and not decora style, then On and Off will be on switch, if no writing it is a three way. If no one installed switch upside down, then you need to switch other end of 3 way.
I like to Install three ways so when both or all are down, then light(s) are off. Especially helpful when turning off lights in large Homes. Just place all switches down, and not worring about
Did you turn one back on.
