    Tenants Rights in Masschusettes
    Hi
I have been renting a Duplex house for 14 years, my landlord came to my home the other day and said I have to move out his 23 year old son wants to move in. He gave me my rent back and said I could stay free this month. I had a lease for the first 8 years and then he told me oh we don't need I would never have you move out. So the time has come and I have nothing in writing from him that he wants me out. He put me in a situation that I was not expecting at this time does anyone know the law on this?

    Thank you Cindi

That's the risk you take when renting without a lease. It is his property to do as he wishes legally. Leases protect both parties. He will have to give you at least 30 days to vacate.
