How long could I have chalymida without knowing? How likley is it to give to my partner ?Cause he test was negative can that happen ?

Chlamydia is known as the "silent" STD because about 3/4 of women have no symptoms and 1/2 of men don't. So you can have it and not know, thus not get tested.

If you do have it, and if you are going to have symptoms, they will usually show up 3-4 weeks after exposure.

It is highly contagious, and if you have it and get treated you can still get re-infected if your partner picked it up after his negative test. It can also occut in your throat, or his mouth through oral sex, and/or in the anus from anal sex.

I would definitely get tested. A lot of OB doctors offer STD tests during your yearly exam (mine does anyway) and I always do it, even though I am married now lol... hey, its covered by my insurance and it always gives peace of mind :)

You and your partner should get tested at the same time, that way there is no chance that one of you is infected and puts the other at risk.
