I have purchased an engagement ring and would like to propose to my girlfriend while we are travelling in Europe. Do you have any recommendations on how best to do this? I'm not particularly comfortable carrying around an expensive ring while backpacking around Europe, but if that's my best bet, I'll have to do it. What about shipping or mailing my ring to somewhere? Is that even possible and can you get it insured and all that?

Any kind of advice from someone that has done this would be a huge help!

I really wouldn't advice shipping your ring anywhere, let alone insuring it, mailing it, god, what a thought! Carry it in a pouch around your neck or something like that, not in your luggage, on your person somehow. Once you have achieved that problem then start thinking of how to propose in europe.

Does she know that you are going to ask her?
Or is she suspecting anything while you guys are in Europe?
