Flexible Savings Account (FSA) for non-resident spouse
    Hi,

My wife is now on a OPT (Optional Practical Training) F1 Visa, and she want to open her Flexible Savings Account (FSA) to use for medical expenses (deductables, medicines,. ).

I am here in the US because of her and also because I am doing all the applications to start my MBA next year. But now I am not studying full time, I am just working on all the TOEFL, GMAT and MBA application documents.

Considering all these situation, as I on a F2 Visa, because of her F1 Visa, is she allowed to use her FSA to pay my medical expenses?

Or is she allowed to open a dependent FSA for me to use for my medical expenses?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

    Best regards,

    Ronie

    Hi,

Do you mean only her OR my expenses?
Or can be she AND my expenses? All paid from her FSA account or I have to have a FSA dependent account too?

Even if we are married but filling Single in W4 form?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Regards, Ronie

    Sorry, bad answer!

BOTH yours and your spouse's medical expenses are eligible for the FSA.

Yes, claim SINGLE, as youmust file individual tax returns.
