Do I have any Rights to see my Biological Daughter?
I was married at 19 for 6 months. My X Wife and I moved to a new area, I got a good job and my X was pregnant.
I came home form work, and she left taking everything. She went back to her parents. I quit my new job and went back to my mothers. When I went to see her, her parents told me to leave and they put a restraining order on me.
I could not go to the Hospital to see my child. They had me removed.
She was given the name I picked out with my Last name on the Birth Certificate.
I had no money to go to the court for the divorce, so that went through.
Next thing she split... got remarried. I received papers from the state of Mass that her and her new husband wanted to adopt my daughter. It said that if I did not sign the papers , that at the age of 12 she would assume the step fathers name and that she would be adopted. I did not sign anything.
At the time I was lost honestlylost and struggling to stay above water.
Not a day went by when I did not think of my daughter.. I cried every year on her Birthday.
Now thanks to the internet I have found her. They live in Ct. I would like to develop a relationship with my daughter, she has a very large family on my side that would welcome her with open arms. But I don't know if I have any rights, and I don't know what her ( for all I know I could be dead) I do not want to hurt her in any way, but I yearn to have a relationship with my daughter. I do have a supportive wife now, and I am finally self sufficient and living a life that could offer my child wonderful things.
Hope someone has a thought on this... I don't know what to do.. Thanks
