    Kitten sickness/strange behavior
I have a kitten that was born breach about 5 weeks ago. I knew at birth that there may be respiratory problems because the momma cat broke the sac while the kittens head was still within momma cats body, and it was a good 2 minutes before birth occurred.

The kitten seemed to be doing very well until today. When I awoke I found the kitten foaming at the mouth and listless. Momma cat still cleaned her kitten but there was no nursing, the one good note was that during those times the kitten seemed livelier and more active.

Late this afternoon I went to check on the momma and her kitten and at that point the kitten was gasping for air, still foaming at the mouth, and her paws had been extremely cold. I stayed with the two thinking that there wouldn't be enough time for a vet because I was certain this kitten wouldn't make it another 15 minutes, let alone an hour.

Suddenly, the kitten expelled a huge amount of something that literally looked like her intestines, but there was no blood and immediately after passing this glob the kitten seemed to pick back up into her livlier self.

I've stayed with her now through most of the day and though she does seem to be almost 100% again she still won't eat which worries me... how long can she go without any nurishment and if she won't nurse is there anything I can try (her nose turned up to moist food).

You really need to take this kitten to the vet. This may have been worms and she needs to be treated. With a kitty that has had such a hard start with life I would not be taking chances with it. It will not take to many days for it to become dehydrated without fluids. My advice always come with please get your cat spayed we have so many kittens/and cats in this world that each one can not possibly have a home. So many are killed each day waiting to get adopted.

CrazysjkaterShe probably has her intestines lodged with a hairball, They will throw up trying to get the hairballs up.Is she peeing? If this is the case you had better get ger to the vet. I hear hairballs can get quite large and cause huge problems.

Just a quick update, kitten is an amazing and true fighter. Whatever she passed through her intestines, she is bouncing back like a real trooper. We have her on formula now, and yes, we did give her a small dose of dewormer even though that doesn't *seem* like the original culprit. She's still a bit tender and occasionally hisses at her momma during cleanings, but over all she has accepted to formula like a glutten and appears to be making a slow but full recovery.

    I'm amazed.
