Do you hear the motor running? Have you checked the belt?

Hi, yes, I figured out that it is a belt(I could see the broken belt inside when I lifted the top). Now, my next question is How do I get the drum out of the dryer to replace the belt? Or I guess just How do I replace the belt? Thanks

    Also, it's not a whirlpool, it's a Maytag... sorry

You should find 2 screws near the bottom of the front panel to remove. One on each side. They may be kind of hidden under a raised area depending on the model. Now pull the front panel outward at the bottom an raise up to disengage the 2 top clips. Then remove 2 screws inside the cabinet and lift the top. You will have to remove 4? Bulkhead mounting screws. If yours doesn't disassemble like this let me know as you would have a new model

Hi, Thanks for all the help, OK, I tried and mine is a newer model, it's about 6 or so years old, I got the top off, popped out 2 screws on the inner front panel at the top, and the front panel tilts down. Now, I'm stuck, not sure where to go from here. Thanks

If you have the unit open the drum will just lift out. Release the belt tension spring. While you have the drum out, now would be a good time to check the rollers. Do they spin freely? If not replace at this time. It will save you from having to go back in again. Not hard nor expensive.

Thank you very much for all your help... I appreciate it, now I can go and replace the belt with ease and I'll check the rollers as well... again, thank you you've been a lot of help. Best wishes, Amanda

Thank you very much for your help, it save us from having someone come out. Hopefully we'll be able to put the new belt on with no trouble.
    My thanks again.
