    briggz
    12.5 briggs timing the motor
    Ive recently had a connecting rod break,I replaced the rod.There is no further damage thank god!! My question is how do I time the motor back (no points)need some help??

    Only timing is to make sure the flywheel key is installed

    I guess should clarify what I saying, meaning timing cam gear with the cam itself,

    You will see a small mark on the camshaft, and crankshaft. These line up together. If you are even just one tooth off it will not run good.

    Thanks mowerman!! I've done that,with the marks being line up,I guess my question is next is,should the piston be TDC,with marks on the camshaft and crankshaft align up?because I've align the marks but when the piston TDC the do not match up, is the okay or not?thanks for a speedy reply

    You must have the marks lined up.
