    Hunter Fan Remote #27148 issue
I installed 2 Berkeley fans with remote 27148 in separate bedrooms with different DIP switch frequencies. One runs perfectly with no noise. The other one has a buzzing noise when the light and fan are off. When I turn the fan on high, the buzz goes away. It is wired through a dual switch but I disconnected the dimmer switch as a "try it and see if it works" thing. Any suggestions?

The fan has a remote AND is wired to a dimmer switch? This is a huge no-no, you probably damaged the remote receiver. Remove the dimmer switch immediately it is a risk of fire.

Tell me how the fan behaves without the wall dimmer. If it still does not function properly you might want to return it. "Dimmer, what dimmer? it was like this when I bought it!"

It operates normally with no problems. I removed the receiver this morning before I got any responses to this questions. When I return the remote, I am going to buy a single pole switch to control the fan and light. I did this with another fan in the house and it operates normally and the remote functions properly.

NEVER use a light dimmer on a ceiling fan, especially a remote fan!

    Glad it works now.

Will a slide switch cause the same problem as a dimmer or can I use it without burning the house down?

You have a remote fan. You can not use any wall control with it unless it is an RF (wireless) control.
