Converting a hardwired ceiling fan into a plug fan
Back in the later 70's early 80's I remember my grandparents having fans in there Florida Rooms that were plugged in. Can't you do this with a new fan, say a Hunter Douglas?

    If so, how?

    Thanks,

    Brian

I've done it, Just add Swag kit, use grommet to protect wire. Would wait for TK's response on any code violation. Not aware of any.

Thanks for your help. I have researched the swag kits and found what I am looking for. I will remember the grommet.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I agree. Swag kits are not very popular any more but they are still available at many hardware stores. You can make your own as well, all they are is lamp cord, chain, and a plug.

Some ceiling fans used to come from the manufacturer with a plug attached, as far as I know currently only commercial fans have this option.
