Help! My brakes just failed! The whole brake system was recently replaced. When the car is off, the brakes feel solid. As soon as I turn on the ignition, there are no brakes. It is an automatic transmission. When the car is on and I push on the brakes, there is a clicking sound from under the park, drive, etc console. Help, I just bought the car!:(

It's normal to have a different pedal feel with the car running, just not too much. Vacuum is provided to the brake booster only when the engine is running.

What do you mean by "the whole system was just replaced"? Do you have repair records for this repair?

If the vehicle is epuipped with a brake interlock (so you have to step on the brake to move the shifter from park) the click you've been hearing is the release solenoid.

Does this answer any of your concerns?
