Shaving "down there."

I actually find this quite embarrassing, to say the least, but, my fiancé just loves it when I shave my pubic hair, & it makes me feel a bit cleaner, personally.
The problem is that it HURTS.
The red bumps appear, they itch, they burn & sometimes they bleed.

Do you have any advice as to making this a little less painful, & maybe smoother?

Trying trimming it. That doesn't make it itch or anything.

I actually use a certain "shaving cream" although its more of a lotion then soapy. Its actually called coochy, its in a pink botel and you can usual find it at any novelity stores, or you can check it out online. It works really well, no bumbs, no itch, no nothing. Just smoothness!

You know what... mix hair conditioner and normal lotion.. cream.. whatever... I've never tried that down there because I like to get it professionally "gone" but I do that for my legs and it makes them sooo smooth and soft ! More than shaving creams or gels.

SOAP SOAP SOAP SOAP SOAP.

Also may I add -

Roll on deodrant afterwards.
It stings quite a bit but it stops red bumps and razorburn and all that stuff.
I recently shaved my "down there" and used the roll on and I didn't get a single red bump though it did really sting for about 60 seconds.

Personally I am letting it grow back, I don't like the look of it.. bare.
But each to their own.

Use hair conditioner right after shaving. That seems to help quite a bit. Also use an electric razor (or mustache trimmer). Even scissors. A disposible type razor is too harsh, which is why you are getting the bumps and bleeding.

Anything that softens the skin and hair will make the shave a lot smoother which will stop irritation which will cancel out those red bumps. Or just wax :P

Waxing leads to ingrowns. Ouch!!

I have found that waxing keeps the area smoother longer and when it grows back it's not itchy and irritation. Waxing CAN lead to ingrowns but one way of preventing that is to exfoliate the area regularly, this goes for shaving too. If you still insist on shaving make sure you have soaked in a bath for a good 15 minutes,exfoliate before and after the shaving, use a lot of soap/shaving cream(I find that dove for sensitive skin works well), use a sharp razor, and treat the area afterward with bikini bump cream.

Well I'm an exotic dancer and what works for me is this: use gillette sensor razors for women you know the ones with the refills. Use women's shaving cream for dry skin baby powder fresh any one but not with perfums in it OK.. use hott hott water (dont burn yourself make sure you can handle the hott water only what is comfortable for u). Then you squwat in the tub you shave the outter lips in the direction the hair is growing (up)! Constantly wet the razor after every stroke of the blade (dont be afraid to keep using more shaving cream; just don't get it in the hole ) k... then the bikini area is last you shave up as well. Do not use the same razor to shave anything else that should be the razor for that only . Change the razor every week and when your done you should dry your razor and keep it in a dry place hint not the shower. Then when you get dressed make sure you use johnson @ johnson baby powder on the new shaved area a lott don't go too crazzy , this helps dry out the bumps and prevent them as well. You should also get bikini zone yesss this product does work you just have to read the directions and follow them correctly sooooo if it says apply 3 or 4 times daily then hello... do it because it real works. Trust me I'm puerto rican and hattian I have the corse's hair and for three years I've been doing this with not one razor bump. But I still get ingroin hairs but the powder raises it up and then you can either pull it with a tweezer or just wait for it to grow out.. Make sure you shave when most of it grows back not when its stuble because you just ceate more bumps bee smart...

I am male and started shaving myself down there, I was told to use women's Schick Intuition or Venus Breeze razors because they have moisturizers and stuff in them

I also think the Venus razor is a really one to use. I've used them pretty much since they came out and have been shaving for about 10 years so I've tried quite a few razors. Use a nice thick layer of shaving gel (I think gel is better than cream and gives a better shave) and a sharp blade.

You can also try an all natural product called Venereous Mountain Mist from Newf Brand which you just spray on after shaving. It has aloe vera to moisturize the skin, witch hazel to stop bleeding and reduce infection and vitamin e and silk proteins to give you skin a nice smooth feeling.

Try products made for pubic hair. The NewfBrand product looks great. You can search the internet for other products. If the bumps last a long time or if they get very painful you'll need to see a doctor.
