    Outstanding charges
Upon aqcuiring a criminal record check a few years ago, I found an outstanding charge for Theft under 200.00, from Alberta Canada. The date of the charge was June 1999. Not that it matters but I had a falling out with my roommate at the time and moved out, and all the way back to Ontario. During the move it seems that a vacum cleaner was taken with my stuff that did not belong to me, the roommate obviously sour, filed the charges against me. My question is how long will the charge stay on my record. Will it ever disappear, is there a statute of limitations. And if it will not dissaopear, how can I resolve such a silly and old problem so not to tarnish my clean record. I am interested in returnung to school to study for a paralegal, and I need a clean criminal record to do so. PLease help me solve this problem. Thank-you for any information

The charge stays on your record forever, no statue of limiations are from the time you do the crime, but stops once you are charged. There will be a warrrant most likely out on that charge also..

You need to return to that area, get an attorney, go to court and be found not guilty. Most likely any proof of the crime if there was one is gone, and most likely your old room mate will not show up to testify.
And maybe charges will be droped after you appear.
