are soffit vents helpful in Florida?
I have a house built pre 1950's. The roof meets the outer walls and there is no where to install soffit vents (there is no traditional soffit as I know it) There are aluminum soffits that have been installed just for aesthetic value. The problem is that I am seeing minor leaking (in the attic) at the joint between the roof and the outer walls of the structure. Could this be condensation? I have ridge vents but no other vents to promote actual air flow. Any thoughts?

IT sounds like you do have condesetion , soffet vents would have helped, past tense . One thing you csan try first is to have vents put in the ends of the house , also come inward from roof edge and install low profile roof vents down from ridge about12. To 18 in. and then on down the roof 8 to 10 ft .centers. If this don't help you will have to go to a elect. Attic vent system. Good luck hope I have heelped out.

Soffit vents only help if you also have a gable vent or vented ridge line also. Air that comes in must be able to escape to do any real good. It is all covection. You may be better off to go with the powered attic fan.
