as most of you may be aware I am 19 years old and my partner and I have been trying to conceive for 9 months now still with no luck.but my question is for the past 2 months during intercourse I have been getting a slight pain on my left hand side above my hip bone.Is this something I should be worried about.Even though we don't do this position very often as we tend to stick to the missionary position as we heard this is the best way when concieving the pain is much worst when doing it in the "doggy" position.It doesn't hurt to urinate or anything else during intercourse.The more my partner thursts the more the pain hurts. But it isn't every time.I would like to go for an ultra sound scan as my mother in law said she had this and it was a cyst on her ovaries this was the reason she couldn't conceive.When it was treated she conceived straight away.Could this be what I have? What would the advice be that anyone can give me surely there must be something wrong it can't be right to hurt can it? And where would I go to get checked out,what would the doctors do? It could very well be a cyst. The best advice I can give is to go see a gynecologist. You need to be seeing an ob/gyn once a year, especially if you are trying to conceive.

I can tell you that you are not alone in this situation. Many women have had difficulties in this area, some constantly, some occasionally. I myself am faced with such a situation. It is yet to be determined as to why I face this problem, doctors so far have found no reasonable cause. However, I can tell you that it didn't start until AFTER I started taking the depo shot. As time has passed since stopping the shot, the pain has slowly begun to lessen. However, there are many reasons that have been determined by doctors as to why some women have this pain.for example,problems with your cervix, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease,ectopic pregnancy,and many others. Even child birth can cause it to be comfortable for years to come, because for some women the location of your uterus changes (sliding more backward, or forward then before) and therefore in deep penetration, certain areas are being hit, that are not use to be hit, if you catch my drift. Your doctor is definitely the best person to see for this. A physical exam, pap smear, possible ultrasound, and other tests may be performed.

I would suggest talking to your regular doctor and asking him/her to recommend a gyno to you. You can also talk with female friends and family and find out who their doctor is and if they like and are comfortable with them. Recommendations from family and friends is usually the best. That way you know somewhat of what the gyno is like before you make the appointment. You don't have to have a referral from your regular doctor, just pick up the phone and ask if they are taking new patients.

I agree with buggage (as always), this could be any number of causes and your doctor may not be able to find out the cause of the problem. Hopefully it is nothing and you will be pregnant before you know it.
