How to burn fat (esp tummy area) when cant do vigorous exercise?
I've been having a knee problem for more than 2 months already, have gone for physio but still not all right. I can't jog or do any activities which strains or applies pressure to my joints. At the same time, my tummy keeps getting bigger and bigger! I'm considered on the 'thin' side, majority won't believe me when I say I have a bloated and 'fat' stomach.. cos to them I'm THIN. But I'm not!! I think it's genetics or something but what can I do to lose and burn those fat around my mid section? I'm getting stressed out because I can't do activities which burns fat faster (cycling, jogging, playing sports that includes running)... All I can do is walk! And I don think walking reli burns off much fat because I hardly get tired at all and my heartbeat doesn't speed up like how it does when jogging. And you got to reach a point where your heart beats about 120/min I think.. before the body actually starts to burn fat. I don't know how I'm going to get rid of the flab around my tummy just by doing crunches/weights... sigh. When I wake up in the mornings last time, I'd get a flat stomach. But now, my stomach's actually bloated in the mornings and after breakfast, I'd look like a pregnant woman already.

Gimme ideas of what exercise I could do.. (besides walking or swimming - too cold to swim). My diet isn't so bad, I know wats good and wats bad, eat lots of fruits and everything.. just needa burn off the fat that's piling on my tummy. Help!

Hi there, please give me an idea of what you are eating and drinking for about four weekdays and please include a weekend. Also please give any/all activities that you do day by day.

Hey... firstly, I'm not the type who loves fizzy drinks and such. So usually, I don't drink anything but water. If I do go out, it's just an occasional hot chocolate or orange juice kind of thing.

Every morning, I eat cereal with low fat/skim/soya milk. The cereal I eat are those from sanitarium, whole grain cereal like weetbix, granola clusters... healthy cereals.

Lunch and dinner would defer according to what's in the fridge atm. Might be grilled chicken with side salad... or steak.. or fish.. All grilled, don't fry my food. Sometimes I even have salad for dinner topped with sardines and egg.. or if I do eat out, it'll be more unhealthy 'course, like chinese or chicken burrito or pasta... etc. But I don't fancy fried, oily food. FIsh & chips are just very rare meals. Can't remember when was the last time I had fast food either! Don't eat out often. Maybe about... 3 meals a week? Aroudn there anyway.

For snacks during the day, I'd eat fruits.. kiwis/oranges/apples.. I like eating my apples with peanut butter though.. but I use the less fat peanut butter so shouldn't be that bad since its protein..? Or snack bars like uncle toby's fruit bars or weight watchers kind of thing.. Don't take snacks every single day. Fruits try to take everyday otherwise its alternate.

I walk EVERYDAY. Cos I have to go to uni. Lol. A 6 min walk everyday to uni (and back of course). And walking to some other places as well.. I just walk everywhere. Sometimes I'd do brisk walking in the afternoons. At least twice to 3 times a week. I'd do crunches & stretches & push-ups when I have the time probably about twice a week or so. And dumbbells to tone my arms and such.

I think I piled on weight because I got 'addicted' to timtams months back. I got into this biscuit feast and they were my afternoon snacks. Chocolates as well. I've already cut biscuits completely out of my diet since may.. I think? ANd have been exercising almost EVERYDAY since then.. climbing the stairs and jogging and jumping jacks and.. you name it! Mayb too much till I hurt my knees and have to stop now. ALready changed my eating habits with the whole biscuit thing. If I eat chocolate I'd only eat it once in a while. But fat is just so hard to lose around the stomach and I know I can't spot-tone that area by doing crunches alone. I just needa know other activities I can do.. Hope this helps give you a review of what I eat and.. I need answers.. lol. Thanks.

    Hey Jan-Ashely,
Thanks that dose help me now what I like for you to do is to stop eating your cereal in the morning and start eating oatmeal with water, protein drink low in fat and carbs. You snacks are good with the fruits just no peanut butter, add no fat cottage cheese instead.
Drink 3 ltr. Of water a day, use low fat and carbs for the salad-dressing, and do a lot of swimming. Please take a good multivitamin and multimineral supplement every day, for more info visit my website at www.healthvariety.com

    Best of Luck...

    Hey RMC

Thanks for yr reply. I mentioned that I'm not able to do swimming because it's too cold and the only indoor swimming pool available to public is half an hour away by bus so it's really inconvenient. What else do you suggest?

    Hey Jan-Ashely,

I hope you're doing great and following the info. I've afforded you.
Now regarding activities which do not put strain or applies pressure to your knee besides swimming is cycling, so get on a bicycle and ride outdoors or on a stationary bicycle.

Best of luck and great health...

P.S. Remember to get your supplement and take them every day
