Actually I am working with computer networks...

Now I want to know the connecting two networks...

Firstly I want to know what are the devices and media (such as internet connection or isdn, or broadband) to connect both networks. Actually I am working with redhat linux 4,

Now please tel me how to configure the net work... and what all the necessary requirements... every thing thing which is needed for develop the network... answer me...

It is around 150 kilometers away... both are in different cities...

Actually... both LANs are in different places... right now both are only LAN... now I have to connect both the LAN...

Other than this I do not have any set up or any idea to... n I only have to set up the connectivity... help me... and

Actually I have to connect both networks and we are using redhat linux 4. and it should be a setup like LAN... (EVEN THOUGH ITS WILL BE WAN)

Please give me guidance in every step... and also what are the requirements to set up this network

We just finished this with one of our clients, and it works beautifully. I didn't set it up, but I did some work remotely, and it was all transparent. One network in Grand Rapids, MI, and one in Milwaukee, WI.

They have an internet connection at each location, with a static IP. The connection goes straight from the modem (I think they're both T1 modems... pretty much any internet connection will do, as long as it's a static IP) into a Cisco ASA device at each location. The ASA's are configured to use IPSEC to encrypt any data that's going from one LAN to the other, then send it to the other ASA over the internet. The othere one then unencrypts it, and send it off to wherever it's supposed to go.

That would be a harware solution, and I'm sure there are several more hardware VPN boxes you could get (the cisco ones are probably one of the most expensive, but they're reliable).

Were you looking for something like that, or some software you could put on the redhat servers? You could use dialup directly to the other location, too, if you didn't want to get any more hardware or pay for a connection (internet or a VPN provider), but that would be *VERY* slow.

I agree the information that Mr. Chris Koster has provided, but that seems a bit complicated.

Anyway, Why don't you try to connect them through Microwave Links?

All you need to have is a Yagi, SemiParabolic or Omni Microwave Antennas and a Router; called (AirPro Gold, P.COM).

If you decided to have this problem solved this way, then please let me know, I will provide with a bit more information for you.
