    Cd/dvd blitzed?
    If I don't laugh l`m going to cry.

    My CD/ DVD JUST STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING,I checked the Error Log and it says;

    Type Date Source Category Event
    Error 26/9 cdrom none 7

    Anybody any ideas how to unblock it.

    Thanks.

    This can be caused by so many things so I will give you the most common and if it doesn't work make sure to let me know. Anyway to start with.

    Take out the IDE cable and power cable from the back of the CD rom drive and then re-attach them, make sure they are snug. This is one potential reason.

    Did you load any new software that may have tried to take associations?(including a new version of windows media player a DVD player etc) sometimes this will cause a conflict, if so uninstall all software that uses the cd rom and then re install piece by piece ensuring it works with each.

    Also does it see a cd when you put it in the tray?(or does it say no disc). If that it may be the cd rom itself broke, try using one out of an old computer and see if that works.
