    UTI what would u do?
A couple of weeks ago I had all the classic symptoms of a UTI a low grade fever, flank pain, blood and pain while urinating. I went to see my doctor and she had me have a urine culture. Two days later she called me with the results she told me I had a UTI and called in a script to my pharmarcy for me. But upon waiting for my results from my urine culture my symptoms have cleared and I have been so busy that I actually forgot to pick up my script and my pharmarcy called to remind me about it. Its been over two weeks now should I still take my antibiotics? I still no longer have any symptoms at all. Could it have actually cleared on its own like that without taking my antibiotics? I hate to have to take antibiotics if I really don't need to. I bought urine dipstick test just to make sure and it only read a trace of protein. What would you do?

If it was me I would call my doctor and see that he or she recommends.

Time for another culture to see if the UTI has in fact cured on it's own. It is highly unusual for a UTI to clear this way. You may be in a secondary phase where it may be in your kidneys and have little to no symptoms until the bacteria gets higher in number.

Please check back with your doctor for another culture.

Don't let it get to the point of a kidney infection--believe me those are TERRIBLE!

Call the doc to be sure :)

iraide8u agrees: I did not realize that you can actually have no symptoms of a UTI but the bacteria could travel up into your kidneys. Thank you
A bladder infection is known as a lower urinary tract infection. A kidney infection is known as an upper urinary tract infection.

The bladder as well as the kidneys work together to remove toxins from your body. Whenever one is infected, you run a risk of the other being infected also.

I just had a kidney infection, and if you've never had one it's nothing to take aloofly. Symptoms can clear up on their own, especially if the infection was only small. However, if not properly treated, you could get another. I'd talk to my doctor to make sure.
