    My dog's bloated
My 12 week old chihuahua was trodden on and I took him straight to the vets the vet gave him a jab for bruising. He hadn't passed a motion for 24 hours so I took him back to the vets the next day... the vet told me I was looking for problems and made him pass a motion. Since he has been eating double passing twice as many motions and is highly bloated I'm worried he might have internal bleeding or something like that. Am I being over protective or might it be something serious. I'm so worried!

I am a little confused by your post. Someone stepped on him and he now isn't defecating? I don't understand what the vet did. He "jabbed" him? Why is your dog eating double and are you saying that now he is defecating much more?

The way to tell if there is internal bleeding is to check your dog's gums. If they are whitish in appearance, there is internal bleeding and you need to get back with the vet.

I just found this second post of yours. Please only post once and respond to us on this same thread. Less confusing that way.(I removed the duplicate post, Labman)

Okay. I understand you are very worried. But you need to calm down. Is your puppy eating and drinking normally? It is a possibility that the 2nd shot the vet gave for the constipation has caused some distress in his digestive tract. Since I don't know what shots your vet gave to him, it is hard to determine what is going on. Have you checked your puppy's gums as I suggested above? Are they pink, red, black or dark bluish? If so, your pup is not bleeding internally. If they are whitish, then there is internal bleeding and you need to get back with the vet. If the gums are fine, I would suggest giving the vet's office a call and let them know what is happening. Do not give your dog any more food. Give him plenty of water and allow his system to calm down and clear itself out. Tomorrow, when the bloating dissipates and he has done a regular bowel movement & urination, you can resume the normal feeding schedule. Do not double up the food portions.

I think it would be best if you got a second opinion from a different vet. Maybe labman will have some more detailed advice for you but it is very hard for us to diagnose your little pup over the internet. Bloating and lethargy sound like symptoms of worms but I wouldn't count on it for sure. See a different vet ASAP.

I have little to add to what RubyPitbull said. Stay in touch with your vet.

Ah, America and England, 2 countries divided by a common language.

I eliminated your second post, but not the one answer to it. Perhaps the duplication was working with a new site while concerned with your dog.
