Bathroom Plumbing leaking through Kitchen Ceiling!
About a month ago, my girlfriend emptied a vase down our kitchen sink(1st floor-below bathroom) and in doing so, completely clogged our plumbing. Our bathroom(2nd floor - above kitchen) was completely clogged. Both shower and sink would not drain and the same goes for the kitchen sink. After a day or so, water started to leak through our kitchen ceiling. Not too much, but it was noticeable. After several failed attempts to unclog using snaking and drain cleaner(nothing harsh, just over the counter stuff), I finally was able to plunge the clog by closing and sealing the shower and bathroom sink drain, and plunging the kitchen sink. Fast forward to Saturday night, after taking a shower, I went downstairs to grab a bite to eat and all the water from my shower was pouring through the spot where a little bit of water had previously leaked. Same goes for the bathroom sink. THe kitchen sink is completely fine and there is no water backup or draining problems in either the shower or bathroom sink. It's as if I'm pouring water down the bathtub and it's coming directly through our ceiling. After showering this morning, I ran downstairs to check the leak and I could actually see the soapy water pouring through our ceiling. Does anyone have any clue what this could be and how to fix it? There is an access panel in our spare bedroom that opens directly to the plumbing behind the shower. What should I look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like you have a break in the drain line, probably in the area of your water damage in the ceiling. Open your access panel and see if you can see the break from there. If not you may have to cut out the area in the ceiling that is getting wet and access it from there. When you find the break, either replace the damaged section with new PVC or if it's in a joint try to reconnect it, then you can repair any wall and ceiling areas you have to open to make your repair. Make sure to test your repair before closing up the wall.
