What are the 2 drainage holes in the basement?
Because of the rain & power outage in the Chicago area, our sump pump stopped working and we had some water in our basement. We poured buckets of water in the floor-level drainage pipe near our sump pump and some water in another floor-level drainage pipe near our furnace. We were told that these 2 drainage pipes were there in case water came in the basement. We recently got power back, and we still see water in the 2 drainage pipes. In 24 hours, the level of water went down only an inch. I thought this water is supposed to go to out to the drainage tile outside of our house and out to the city drainage system. Can someone verify the usage of the 2 drainage pipes and let me know if there is a problem with stilll seeing water in the 2 drainage pipes. Thanks in advance.

If you have water in your drainage pipes then they are blocked and need to be snaked and cleared. Does you sump pit have two openings for the drain lines or do they terminate boutside? Regards, Tom
