Where is the starter located on a 1973 Lincoln continental mk IV?

I would say same side as battery and where engine and transmission meet, disconnect battery before using wrenches down there.

Follow the battery Pos cable from the solenoid down to the starter. And, yes, as Stratmando pointed out, disconnect the battery and insure that the cable won't inadvertently reconnect. Clean all connection points before reassembly.
