I've been using ovulation predictor kits for the last few months (we are trying for a baby) but I never get a positive result, I've even tried using them every day but still they always show negative. Does this mean I'm not ovulating? I was on depo for 3 1/2 years but stopped it 18 months ago and my cycle has been all over the place since, hence me using ovulation kits daily but do they work for all women?? :confused: :confused: :confused:

The kits do work. Have you discussed this problem with your doctor, or gotten a clean bill of health? I would assume if the kits aren't picking up a surge, then you aren't ovulating.

Coming off a hormonal birth control like Depo (especially depo) is rough on your system. It may take many months to return to normal, and unfortuntely, some women never return to normal. It has been a long enough period, that I would suggest discussing with your doctor options like Clomid to help you ovulate. Good luck.

First and foremost Depo takes a long time to get out of your system... my doctor said 12-18 months if not longer.

I use ovulation tests, and yes they do work in detecting your surge... they do not tell you if you actually ovulated though. They simply detect the presence of LH which is the hormone release right before you should ovualte.

If you are not detecting a surge you most likely not ovulating. I would do as alkalineangel said and get checked by your doctor. Let them know you are trying to get pregnant. My OBGYN did a blood work up on me to make sure all my hormones for getting pregnant were in the normal limits. This may answer a lot of your questions.
