    It is most accurate to test no earlier than a week to two weeks past missed period... the closer to your period due date you test, the better your chances for a false enegative... although it never hurts to test early, and you very well could get a positive result, but you just should be prepared to test again if it is negative.

    Also, FYI, Some women have to have a blood test administered to receive a positive pregnancy result.

    There are tests that allow you to take them as early as 5 days before your missed period, however these are hardly accurate, as most women don't have enough hcg built up in their systems to be detectable at that early of a date. You can take one as soon as you miss your period. However, if your hcg levels aren't high enough, you'll still get a negative. It is wise to wait one-two weeks after your missed period, and/or take a blood test in place of an hpt. Good luck
