My washer won't agitate or spin, but instead makes a noise like gears are grinding. It's fairly loud. Is this a self fix problem or do I need a technician?

Normally these types noises are not for diy unless you are very handy. If you want to tackle it and need help troubleshooting post back
I'm pretty handy. I've never worked on a washer though. Will I need parts or something just not in sync? Did the large load play a part in this? My wife says she couldn't have done this and I agreed to keep the waters calm. But I think it did.Quote:
