    Any idea why?
I'm overdue and I went to the doctor today. He checked me and said that I am not even 1cm dilated yet, but that my cervix was very soft and thinning. He took a very long time checking me today, and had a look of worry on his face while doing so. He told me to come back next Monday, and that we would induce next Tuesday if nothing happened on it's own. As I was leaving the office he stopped me and said that he wanted me to come back on Thursday of this week instead of Monday. He was on the phone but said that I will see the doctor he was talking to on the phone. So they rescheduled me for Thursday, but since he was on the phone I couldn't ask why. Any ideas on why he may have changed his mind in the 2 minutes it took me to get dressed and schedule an appointment with the front desk girl? He seemed worried, and he was the one that called the other doctor. My mom thinks that I might need a c-section or something, but the baby has been faced correctly for a month. I am probably just worrying too much, and I will probably give in and call him tomorrow to ask what's up, but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas first.

So you are at 42 weeks right now. You see, a doctor does not like to go past 42 weeks. So most likely they will discuss induction on Thursday.

I would suggest you call the doctor's office back and ask what kind of doctor you will be seeing on Thursday, is it a specialist, what kind, etc.

They could be worried that the baby is to big and they want to deliver before it has a chance of getting any bigger.

Do you have any other complications such as gestational diabetes?

You see after 42 weeks the placenta is not nearly as functional as it is before 40 weeks, it is quite important that you do not go beyond this time.

Nope, I haven't had any problems at all. My blood pressure has been awesome the whole time and everything else has been good as well. He said that he thinks the baby is about 8lbs now.

Since he didn't talk to you about it he may not be anything serious since you are overdue if something was wrong they would have admitted you today.
    Try not to worry.
I know easier said then done

Well, then, that may put a whole new spin on things since it is your first.

Many 1st pregnancies are about 2 weeks late, some 2 weeks early.

He may just be erring on the side of caution and getting a second opinion from a colleague prior to induction.

That's very true most first pregnancies are usually past the due date rather then early

Thank you for the peace of mind. My mom went with me today, and thought it was really weird what he did too. I'm not upset at all if he wants to induce earlier then he said, I just wanted to make sure that everything is okay. He will be doing things (inducing and c-sections) today, so he closed his office for the rest of the day (his office is in a hospital) so I will call him tomorrow to ease my mind. Thank you again for all the help.
