    Breaking a lease, va
Hi. I am trying to break a lease 5 months early. My landlord has been trying to sell the house in hopes we could both benefit. However, his price and the house condition don't mesh. The house has been on the market for 4 months--kept up by me. I understand I am liable for lost rent if I break the lease, but am wondering if he has to try to re RENT the house or if he can just continue to try and sell it? Legally, can I request/demand that he accept a new renter? Otherwise, I am afraid he will simply keep trying to sell it... thanks so much

He will have to try and rent it. But then a house that is for sale may not be a prime rental. And to be honest 4 months is not very long on a slow market. Have you considered looking for a person to sub lease it from from. ( if allowed) And of course you did not say why you wanted to break the lease.
